Houston, we have a problem.

I woke up this morning feeling a little off.

Well, a little more off than usual. Half of my face felt… full? When I attempted to rub the sleep from my eyes I realized that half of my face is quite swollen.

Ewwwww.

I’ve been fighting off a pretty nasty cold including the sinus infection from hell for going on three weeks now.

Wonderful.  Now what.  Already called my Doc, he has no openings until next Monday.  There’s no way in hell I’m going to the ER, and I don’t really have the cash to go to an Urgent Care. I’m running a low fever and I have a runny nose (big shock there), but other than that I don’t feel too horrible.  I’m just a little nervous about waiting until Monday.

Any advice?

You need antibiotics. If you can’t get in to see your doc, see if there is another doc in the practice that will see you. Alternatively, go to a large multi-doc clinic. You certainly don’t need a lot of resources if this is a sinus infection from a cold, but those antibiotics aren’t going to prescribe themselves.

How well do you know the ER docs? Maybe you can talk one into writing a prescription for you.

I just got off the phone with the docs office. I think it’s time for a new Doctor.

I know a few ER Docs, but no one who I can pick up a phone and call.

    I have a few options still. Somehow I think I’ll survive :)

Investigate a NetiPot. I am not sure how good they are for how bad you are but they can keep you from getting to where you are.

I’ve heard of this happening and it’s a blockage. One way or another you need to see a doc. Suck it up girl… I know it sucks but you gotta go get some meds. The ER ain’t so bad!

Dude, totally get the Neti Pot. It’s like $10 or $12 for the whole system, and you can get it at any drug store. Amazing, amazing thing. I use mine almost every day and it really helps with all the sinus crap. Let us know how you’re doing, okay?

Mama Mia, I know, I know.

I got the abx, just took four of them.

Bonus: Cost me four bucks at Walmart.
