This is my Grandfather’s revolver. When he passed away in 1978, my Dad claimed it as his own, saying that my Maternal Grandfather would have wanted him to have it.
Somehow I doubt that. Call it a hunch.
This is the same weapon that he pulled on my Mother one day shortly after their divorce.
I didn’t know that he had it until a few weeks ago and it’s been my sole mission in life to return it to it’s rightful owner since then. He had plans to sell it. I know he wouldn’t have gotten much (Thanks McHottie!), but it didn’t seem right to me. No way in hell I was going to allow him to sell my Grandpa’s gun, for beer money.
It wasn’t his to sell.
My Mom doesn’t want it, her sisters don’t want it. My brother doesn’t want it. No one wanted it but me.
Now I need to know, what in the hell do I do with it?
If you are not inclined to shoot it, I would have it mounted in a glassed in box. Would look real nice against a black or red velvet background.

Keep it, Learn how to shoot it. Or I could teach you how to shoot it. Then come to the range with crzegrl and me….. JS
It is BEAUTIFUL! Love it and cherish it as you do your memories of your grandfather. Learn to shoot it if you are so inclined and then consider putting it away.
One other thing Epi…consider rethinking the words you choose when you write about guns. If you call it a ‘weapon’ you are feeding into the negative ideas of firearms.
A weapon can be anything used to defend oneself and unless you find yourself shooting someone in a case of self-defense
you are just having some good clean safe fun with a firearm!

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. That’s a gun a lot of folks would love to own.
Take JS’s advice and tell us about the experience.
I’d shoot it until I got bored with it, and then definitely have it mounted.
I’d say have it restored and either display it or play with it! Either way… it is pretty neat.
Learn to shoot it, but a single action .44 isn’t a good choice for self defense, unless you’re Wyatt Earp and it’s 1870.
Of course, you could always give it to me for safe keeping. :)

It’s nice, but I dunno if I’d want to rely on it for self-protection. However, it’s a decent learner gun.
I’m definitely going to have to shoot it.
After that, I don’t know. My ex partner told me that it’s not exactly practical for home protection.
I’m not against having it mounted though. I kind of like that idea.
