I am no longer allowed to use the PA on the truck while driving code three. Apparently a complaint came in today.
Who knew that yelling “PLEASE move your vehicle to the RIGHT…. NO, your OTHER RIGHT!” Would irritate someone to the point of calling Itty Bitty EMS to complain.
He should have moved his Cavalier to the right. Just saying. It’s not like the gigantic white ambulance with the screaming siren and the bright LED light bar wasn’t enough warning that we were coming…

This is why I’m a big proponent of emergency vehicles being equipped with ballistic missiles. Or at least a machine gun turret or two.

We have a policy at work, sometimes referred to as “The Matt Rule” that came out sometime after the “YOU, in the WHITE TRUCK. PULL. OVER!” incident. Apparently I inspired a fellow coworker to utilize the PA and he managed to drop an F-bomb whilst requesting a citizen motorist to move his vehicle to the right side of the road and come to a stop.
Hahhahahahahahahahahahaha! LOL bigtime!
if a person is stupid enough not to get out of the way for an emergency vehicle they deserve to be yelled at over the PA! and it shows just how really stupid they are to file a complaint when they are in the wrong to begin with! If that were me I’d be so embarrassed that I would quietly slink off to my little hole in the world somewhere and learn a lesson!
Oh but, pardon me! I forgot that stupidity clouds the brain and makes more stupidity by being self righteous! So not right!

You have an LED lightbar? Is that on the same Sprinter ambulance that you posted pics up for in an earlier post?
If so, I find it humorous that they will spend the money on an LED lightbar, but use Fog Lights as your Scene Lights

Umm, I used the pa to say this one night while parting the red sea in rush hour traffic, “Will the bald headed man wearing way too much gold in the white caddy please move so I can go save a life!”
I worked for private ambulance at the time. It was the owner of my ambulance company in the white caddy. Doh! Needless to say, all the pa cords where cut and mikes removed after that little incident. I served a 3 day suspension. pffft.
hehehe- At least they moved… I had one stop dead in the middle of the road!
A ticket would be issued had it happened here! You move over to the right or tell me the story about the fire you were rushing to or from and couldn’t move for the ambulance! Want me to grab a ticket book and blue light him, huh huh? I would, you know!

There is a legend in the agency where I work.
Seems there was a crew liked to use the PA to make siren noises sometimes.
“Whee-oooo! Whee-oo!” they’d sing into the mic, and traffic was none the wiser.
One night, they were proceeding as usual. Perhaps they did not notice the lack of amplified woo-woos.
However, it’s certain they noticed when they paused to take a breath — and the countywide fire ops dispatcher interjected, “…. last unit?”
(See, the PA mic and radio mic are right next to each other…)
When I worked EMS in a larger City we used to use them frequently. I cannot recollect what we might have said, but we never got any complaints that I heard about. The F-bomb certainly gets peoples attention I am sure though.
