If you are working EMS in Ohio towards the end of October…
And if you decide to at the last minute pick up a shift to work a University football game…
You better dress for it.
Because it’s going to be pretty damn cold.

This is me.
With four layers of clothes on. And I’m smiling.
The truth is I was freezing my ass off. Don’t let the winning smile, calm demeanor, and pig tails fool ya, folks.
It was COLD. So cold, in fact, that by the 4th quarter my poor partner and I were taking turns warming up in the ambulance.
We’ve moved from Summer directly into Winter, ya’ll.
Dress for it. And be safe out there.
That’s all I have for now.
Working on an EMS 2.0 post. Tomorrow or Monday, hopefully.

Cold weather just breeds character. As in who can stand outside the longest before running back inside going, darn its cold outside.
If that’s the case, Stephan, I win.
I am chock full of character.
And it’s not even winter yet.
welcome to my world! we’ve skipped fall- and went right into winter! And let me tell you I know all about building character in cold weather!
Brrrr. I always hated football stand bys. If I’m watching football, I at least want to be able to have a beer!
BTW, lurve the pigtails. ;)
You have to stay outside when you’re covering football games? The medics at ours always just slept in their ambulance within view of the field. :]
Cold weather is OK. Yes, it does get pretty damn cold in NC. I can put on enough to get somewhat comfortable. Now in the summer, well, I can only take off so much before someone calls the cops…
And this, my dear, is why they realized they were making fools of themselves using the term “Global warming”, and started using the term “climate change”.
At least it wasn’t raining, right?
…and, towel rolls?
Really?
No HeadBeds?
No, no headbeds.
Not here. The fire service doesn’t use them either.
Luckily I can make a mean towel roll :)
Funny… I mentioned towel rolls to someone here and they looked at me like I had 2 heads. No towel rolls here in the PNW.
Nothing immobilizes a head like a blanket or towel roll. But every time I put a couple of sets on the truck everyone looks at me like I just got off of the rocket ship from Jupiter. And the commercial things that everyone around these parts uses are USELESS.
