…Is the Patron Saint of Medic Students….
I know that there must be one.
Dear Patron Saint of Medic Students,
Please… Pretty please… Oh PLEASE give me a live birth tomorrow.
Please let some wonderfully understanding (and medic student friendly) woman find herself in the position where she’s ready to bring her little bundle of joy into the world. Let her be near the hospital that I’ll be at. Let her feel compelled to come to said hospital and deliver her baby.
And let me be there.
Please? Pretty please?
Also, I’ve been looking for my IV mojo. If you’ve seen it, please send it back. There are a few bruised up folks walking around the city because of me.

Be lucky you’re female, when I went through my OB rotation all I got to do was work with the babies delivered by C-section. I talked with other students and only the two females in our class actually were able to see and assist in a vaginal birth. I can see why, but it doesn’t make it easier when your first delivery in the field will be your first actual delivery.
I’ll trade 25mg of IV mojo for a little love with tubes. :)
And you’ll get a live birth. I can feel it! We’re almost done! Can’t you see the finsih line with the glittery patch waiting at the end!
Blessed Dr. José Gregorio Hernandez of Venezuela is the patron of medical students; he’s not a saint yet, but I believe he’s up for canonization. I’ll say a little prayer to him for you!
Sounds like you’re looking for Saint Jude, the patron saint of desperate situations and hospitals.
Really.
Good luck, Epi. It’ll come eventually.
IV mojo comes and goes. I’ve had days where after the first few patients I refused to start another IV since I knew I would miss. The next day my IV mojo was back to normal.
Hey Miss Epi-Junky, in case you were curious… St Michael is not only the patron saint for police officers, but also for paramedics, paratroopers, and mariners. Good Luck :)

Hope you get one…. JS
I will light a candle for you.
Hope you get it :)
I.V. mojo… i could use some…
Good luck Epi- hope you get to witness one from the ‘other’ end :-)
I love it! I’ve been praying the EMS gods for good clinical days! but I shall now have to remember St. Michael- duh ! I should’ve already!
I prayed for the exact opposite, and it worked for seven years, then I had two live births in the rescue in two months!
Maybe some reverse prayer psychology is in order.
It sounds like you are doing fantastic, keep up the good work!
The suspense goes on…. did you get one?
Hope you got your births!!! I’m officially done with my clinicals, trust me the day you finish will never be sweeter!
